PUB (0304) 562 - Planning Public Health Programs and Interventions


Credits: 3.00

Students will learn a framework for effective decision-making at each step of public health program planning, including how to: use theory and evidence in intervention development; explain a logical mapping of public health solutions; and create activities for implementation and questions for evaluation.

Prerequisite 1: PUB 576  
At the end of this course, students will be able to:

- Create a causal loop diagram to  understand the complex characteristics of a health issue 

- Apply environment-oriented theories and constructs to program interventions

- Link needs assessments to program planning in order to specify program goals 

- Identify coalition building strategies to help with the conduct of a needs assessment

- Identify available resources for a proposed intervention

- Create outcome and objective measures for an intervention

- Create a logic model using the PRECEDE-PROCEED framework

- Differentiate process and impact evaluation questions
