Students will be introduced to social research methods in public health. The course will cover theory and its relationship to research methods, critical inquiry and argument, the development of research questions, synthesis of the literature, research design, data analysis, ethical issues in research and research dissemination.,Course Number 0304-575 Principles of Public Health Practice,

Prerequisite 1: BIO 620  or NUR 606 PUB 570  PUB 564   
At the end of this course, you will be able to:

- Recognize what methods are appropriate for studying health problems in human populations.

- Develop an appropriate survey for explanatory health research

- Formulate research questions and hypotheses in a manner suitable for health science research

- Evaluate the quality of health research

- Differentiate between quantitative and qualitative research methods

- Analyze health data using SPSS
