SPY (0504) 630 - Psychoeducational Interventions I: Working Towards Equity


Credits: 3.00

Students will review the psychological and educational interventions used to address the needs of children with learning and emotional difficulties within a psycho-cultural context.  Emphasis will be placed on understanding the child’s difficulties within a social framework that has an impact on issues of equity.

In this course, students will:

1. Be able to integrate educational and psychological modalities in developing intervention plans.

2. Be knowledgeable about the impact of socio-cultural phenomenon on a child’s development, adjustment and academic performance 

3. Be better prepared to consult and work with parents and families of students with learning and emotional difficulties

4. Be better prepared to work with teachers in developing effective intervention plans in the classroom
